We visited our local Waldorf School's Winter Fair for the first time over the weekend. K met King winter which was so magical...I very much wanted to take a photo but I didn't want to ruin the atmosphere so I resisted! His helper gave K some glitter to sprinkle into a little pond while she made a wish and then a little white stone, a gift from King Winter. His little house was enchanting, we pushed through layers of white fabric to enter and inside was draped in a delicate white with accents of frosty silver everywhere...it was beautiful.
There were several craft activities for the children, K chose to dip her own candle. It was so rhythmic. A ring of children all dipping candles would slowly walk around the large table and each dip their wick into the hot wax as they walked past it. It took about thirty minutes for K to finish her candle and dip it in the colours she wanted, she was so proud when she had finished.
I fell in love with the little knitted finger puppets and thought the girls would love them. I bought them three different coloured elves, a mother with a baby wrapped to her, a prince and a princess. They are absolutely beautifully made and are so very sweet.
It was lovely seeing the children's Kindergarden area and all their little play things, the play kitchen pots and pans, the brooms to sweep up, the baskets of twigs and fir cones, the little hobby horse standing up in the corner...the children must have a wonderful time playing and learning there.
We can't wait until the Summer Fair now!
