Each Kindergarten classroom has it's own kitchen space so the children can do simple activities such a food preparation or baking bread. In a Waldorf Kindergarten there is a very rhythmical pattern to the week, for example, 'painting day' , 'baking day' or 'washing day'. Every week on washing day, the children will hand wash items from the classroom (play fabrics, dolls clothes) these will then be hung up to dry and then carefully ironed. I think the sense of rhythm can be very comforting to a young child and gives them a deep sense of security.
