I wanted to wish everyone Happy Holidays!
We're spending Christmas Eve afternoon preparing food for Christmas day. We will be making vegetarian sausage rolls, stuffing and baking and icing fairy cakes. We always listen to Carols from Kings at 3pm on Radio 4 and watch a family film together. Early evening the children will be laying stockings out, reading some Christmas Eve poems from a vintage copy of Hilda Boswell's Treasury of Poetry (this is a much loved tradition from my own childhood) under the light of the Christmas tree.
As they get ready for bed they might hear some of Father Christmas's reindeer bells, they have been hearing them for a few nights now so they know the magic is getting closer!
When they wake in the morning they will find a trail of sparkle from the bottom of the stairs to their stockings and our Christmas day will begin!
