(Rainbow, Little L's Bamboletta Baby, a single Christmas gift she treasures everyday)
As we approach the Winter holidays, simplicity is on my mind. As a family focused on simple living, I want to think about how to celebrate the season simply, to keep our home calm and clutter-free. I want to move the focus away from Christmas day, which in today's consumerist society highlights the giving, but mostly, receiving of presents, to celebrating the holiday season as a whole, focusing on seasonal experiences and traditions with the children. I want the Winter holidays to be about connection and shared experience, baking holiday cookies, drinking hot chocolate, picking out the perfect fresh tree. This won't be unusual for Miss K and Little L, as if anyone remembers my post Toy simplicity at Christmas, Christmas has never been a big. blow-out affair here. I will be sharing a few more thoughts about this over the coming weeks, as I try to resist the pressures that sometimes this time of year can bring. Do you like to celebrate Christmas with your family simply? If so, I would love to hear about what makes your Winter holidays special!
